Solid and reliable, the Janome HD5000 is loaded with features which will fulfill all your home décor, basic sewing and household repair needs. Made with single-cast aluminum, the HD5000 is a heavy-duty workhorse which displays remarkable durability and quiet operation over several hours of work, different textures and multiple layers of fabric. There is a selection of 18 stitches to choose from, with a one-step buttonhole, over 75mm of free arm, horizontal loading bobbin and seven-piece feed dog which delivers accurate results and great control every single time. It all comes with a snap-on presser feet, needle threader, and balance adjusting and one-hand thread cutting features.
User friendly stitch reference panel
An interactive stitch reference panel recommends the optimum settings for stitch length, stitch width, thread tension and correct presser foot for the selected stitch.
Spacious storage space
An ergonomic and spacious storage compartment ensures the required presser feet are always at hand.
See-through cover plate
The pop-up hook cover makes it easy to open and reach the bobbin. Transparent plastic material is helpful in checking the amount of thread left in the bobbin.
Top Loading Bobbin
Horizontal loading bobbin is easy to use, and a rotating hook mechanism ensures there are no thread clogs or jams.
One-hand Needle Threading
Built to be handled easily with one hand, the needle threader is a cinch. Just put the thread on the guiding slot and the tail is automatically guided through the needle eye.
Seven Piece Feed Dog
Seven piece feed dogs, each of them arranged in a box-unit type structure parallel to each other, ensure that the sewing occurs right from the edge of the fabric and the fabric is fed uniformly while maintaining the tautness of the surface. The result is consistent, beautiful stitches.
Handy and spacious Accessory Storage Box
Spacious storage space for accessories ensure that everything you need while sewing – tweezers, lint brush, spool pins, bobbin, seam ripper etc. are all readily available and can be stowed away when not in use.
Snap On/Off Feet
Simply press the red button to release the plate, place the new plate in the slot and lower the shank to “snap” on the new plate. Simple!
One Step Buttonhole
Efficient one-step buttonhole arrangement, which automatically conforms to the size of the button
Smart design for Free arm
The detachable accessory box conceals the free arm beneath it, so you can work on normal projects as usual and simply detach the box when you need the free arm for working on cuffs, links and sleeves. No need for separate storage space to stow away the free arm when not in use

Exactly what I needed Review by Josephine

Now that I finally got my hands on this machine, I am in awe – it is the right machine for me. What I need it to do is serious layered stitching, really thick, many layers. Also, what I work with mostly is Duck Canvas and I really needed a machine that can get the job done, without fuss, a real workhorse machine. So, as far as it went, I needed a heavy duty machine, something that would not be out of place in an industrial place. Now, with the HD 5000, I get that; the thing that might be a little problematic for me was the tension, which is a little bit on the lower side, and a little quirky. Then another issue I had with it is when using very thick thread; the machine got a little bit threaded. However, you need to get the thread around the tension plate, and then it gets done easily. Now, as far as these heavy machines go, this one is about a third of the weight of the machines that I’ve worked with in the past, but the mass is not an issue, it works, and it works fine. I’m gonna road test this one for a while and then I’m probably gonna buy another one.

For my home décor needs this is the perfect machine. I use it constantly and i've had no major issues. I thought I’d still be using my old machine, but after this one was put to the test, my old one was retired for good!. I even used it for upholstery work and for curtains, and it kept up. Even though it handles heavier workloads very easy, that doesn’t mean that it can't handle more delicate projects. Took me very little time learn how to use it, and I think I’ve used all the options it has; for a home machine that is great. Buy it for miscellaneous home projects, it’s excellent for these

For my home decor needs this is the perfect machine. I use it constantly and I've had no major issues. I thought I’d be using my old machine forever, but after this one was put to work, my old one was retired for good! I've used this machine for upholstery work, curtains and on finer fabrics like my clothing for my toddler.
I took just a quick lesson to learn how to use it, and I think I’ve used all the features it has. It's a great, reliable machine, I highly recommend it.
